Woodham Walter School

The School’s Christian Values:

To love one another as Jesus loves us through:

Compassion (expressed through kindness)

Endurance (expressed through being positive)

Justice (expressed as fairness)

Forgiveness

Thankfulness

Friendship

The church has exceptionally close links with the village school – Woodham Walter Church of England Primary School. The school is a small one (92 pupils) which was rated as Outstanding in the 2011 Ofsted inspection. It is in the top 6% of primary schools nationwide. The Ofsted inspection stated that “Their (the childrens’) spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is exceptional. The curriculum is outstanding and the quality of care, guidance and support is excellent. Both of these areas are exceptionally well supported by close links with external agencies” (including the church).

The church welcomes school children and staff to attend all services and tailors special services to the needs of the children, particularly Christingle, Harvest Festival, Remembrance Day and school assemblies. School children and staff also read and participate in regular church services.

The church is well represented in the school with church members, as well as Congregation Members taking assemblies and running a JAM (Jesus and Me) club at school. Both the PCC and the diocese appoint school governors

We particularly like the Christian nature of the school creed which reads as follows:

The School Creed:

This is our school,

Let peace dwell here,

Let the room be full of contentment,

Let love abide here:

Love of one another,

Love of mankind,

Love of life itself,

And love of God.

Let us remember that, as many hands build a house,

So many hearts make a school.
